Serve these “twisted” little treats in the morning along with some scrambled eggs or offer them on their own as an appetizer.
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons dry mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 pound bacon
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil (this will catch the fat that renders from the bacon). Place a wire rack on the baking sheet.
In a shallow baking dish, combine all of the ingredients except the bacon. Press each strip of bacon into the mixture until coated on both sides. Twist each strip a few times and arrange on the baking rack.
Bake until the bacon is browned and crisp enough to hold the twisted shape, about 25 to 30 minutes. Cool slightly before serving.
Makes 16 to 20 twists.
