Farmers in the Western Lake Erie Basin can apply now through March 18 for Regional Conservation Partnership Program funds for conservation practices that benefit water quality.

On July 1, a new law goes into effect that will restrict the application of manure and fertilizer on frozen, snow-covered or saturated ground in the Western Lake Erie Basin (WLEB).

Nutrient Management bill heads to House

Ohio’s water quality and nutrient management bill, Senate Bill 150, introduced by Senators Cliff Hite and Bob Peterson, unanimously passed the Senate Jan. 23. Ohio Farm Bureau testified in support of the bill and made it a “key vote”, as its provisions met Farm Bureau policy.
