Chocolate Milk was invented in Jamaica!
In the early 1700s, Sir Hans Sloane, while living in Jamaica, “He found the taste of cocoa “nauseous” but mixed it with milk and made it more palatable.
Four Food Facts About Milk
- Chocolate milk is sweetened, usually cold, cocoa-flavored milk drink. It is created when chocolate syrup or chocolate powder if mixed with milk (from cows, goats, soy, rice, etc.)
- The USDA reports that low-fat chocolate milk has 191 calories, 4.8 grams of fat, and 7 grams of protein. Regular milk has 209 calories, as well as 8 grams of fat, and 8 grams of protein.
- It is not highly caffeinated. The amount of caffeine in chocolate milk is similar to the amount in decaffeinated drinks.
- Many studies have praised chocolate milk as a post-workout recovery drink.
