Cook:

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder*
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary*
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a baking sheet.

Put the rolled oats into a blender or a food processor, and pulse several times, grinding them into coarse flour. Mix the oat flour with the whole wheat flour, salt, sugar and spices in a bowl. Add the water and olive oil, and mix to form a soft dough. Roll out the dough until it’s about 1/8 of an inch thick. Create cracker shapes. (We used a small glass to cut out circles. You could also use a knife to create square or rectangular crackers.) Place the shaped dough onto the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven until just barely brown, about 10 to 15 minutes. These crackers burn easily, so watch your first batch carefully to see how fast they cook in your oven.

Note: You can change the seasoning to create a variety of flavors.

Yield: About 3 dozen, depending on the size you choose
