The Young Agricultural Professionals (YAP) advisory committee has been busy planning a great summer event for young people involved in, or interested in food and farming. The Summer Reach Out will be held June 28 at Mohican State Park.

Three different tours will be offered at the event:

Tour 1: Will begin at Malabar Farms, then tour Rus-Men Farms where high quality meats are produced and marketed directly to consumers and the tour ends at Pleiades Maple Farm.

Tour 2: Begins at Ohio Agriculture Research and Development Center in Wooster touring the campus and getting updates on the latest and greatest research, then the tour will stop at Bristol Dairy Farms which is currently milking 2,200 head a day and wrap up the Troutman Vineyards for wine tasting.

Tour 3: A family focused tour. This tour will begin at Malabar Farms and then spend the rest of the afternoon at the State Park partaking in family friendly activities with a local FFA Chapter and the park’s naturalists.

The finals of the state Discussion Meet will be held at this event as well. The day will conclude after the tours with a social hour and buffet dinner on the patio of the park lodge.

All tour locations and speakers are tentative and subject to change. The cost of this event is $20 per adult and $5 per child. Register through your County Farm Bureau office.

Registration Deadline is May 23.
