Since 1935, advisory councils have taken the lead in a grassroots approach to policy development and leadership development. One of the reasons that our organization is so strong is that we have passionate members who care about issues, agriculture and their communities. As we celebrate this heritage and look to the future, we would like to invite current advisory council members to join us on the first day of the 2012 Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) Annual Meeting.

The first day of the annual meeting, Nov. 28 at the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, is “Advisory Council Day.” We invite advisory council members and a guest to join us for all or part of the day kicking off with the 10 a.m. opening of our Hospitality Corner and Health Fair. There will be numerous opportunities throughout the day to visit with fellow council members, annual meeting delegates, members of the OFBF board of trustees and staff.

Seminars will include a thought provoking presentation from our long-time friends at Nationwide, titled “Land is Your Legacy.” As our guests at the Leadership Luncheon, we invite you to meet the new Vice President and Dean of Ohio State University’s College of Food, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences who will address the group.

Following lunch will be a special breakout session for Advisory Council members as we look at the history and future of councils. The afternoon will wrap up with a look at the changing landscape of agriculture education.

“Advisory Council Day” activities conclude with the Young Ag Professionals Discussion Meet finals at 5 p.m.

The registration form must be completed and returned to your county office by Nov. 14.
