Portage County Landowner Preserves Farmland with Clean Ohio Funds

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio – Portage County landowner John Groselle received $166,835 for the permanent agricultural easement placed on his 85.71 acre farm in Hiram township. This marks the sixth purchased easement by the Ohio Department of Agriculture within Portage County, assuring the land will forever remain in agricultural use.

Agricultural easements are voluntary legal agreements restricting non-agricultural development on farmland, with the land itself remaining on the tax rolls and under private ownership and management. Landowners may undertake any agricultural activity permitted under Ohio law, and they can sell their farm or pass it along as a gift to others. 2009 Fair Schedule Now Available

REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio – Ohioans can start planning visits to fairs for the 2009 season as the Ohio Department of Agriculture has released the official dates for Ohio’s 94 county and independent fairs and the Ohio State Fair.

The Paulding County Fair will kick off the 2009 fairs on June 16, and the season will conclude Oct. 17 with the Fairfield County Fair. The complete 2009 schedule is posted on the department’s Web site at www.agri.ohio.gov in the “Newsroom” section. read...
