Ohio State in conjunction with FBI Cleveland’s WMD Program, will host the 2014 Workshop on Agroterrorism at Ohio Agricultural Research & Development Center (OARDC) in Wooster. This FREE workshop will be held Sept. 24-25 at OARDC’s Shisler Conference Center.

Registration for attendance can be facilitated directly through Hannah Roscoe at the Shisler Center (see attachments).

Agenda will be emailed to registered attendees in the coming weeks as a few last minute travel details with speakers are worked out. Workshop presentations will focus on topics delivered by renowned experts from Ohio State, Ohio Department of Agriculture, FBIHQ Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate, FBI Cleveland WMD Program, Ohio Farm Bureau and local agriculture producers.

Day one topics include the impact of a real agro-terrorism event (economic, psychological, etc.), law enforcement/regulatory response, state response plans, the Centers for Disease Control’s Select Agent Program, current agro-terrorism threat environment, private industry perspective and more.

Day two will include tours of the OSU OARDC’s feed mill and a behind-the-scenes look inside OARDC’s Bio Safety Level 3 Agriculture (BSL-3a) research facility. This BSL-3a laboratory is set to go “hot” within the next year and once it does, all such tours will be non-existent to the outside. This facility is only one of six in the entire nation and the research it will soon conduct will provide critical intelligence to the agriculture industry, livestock industry and overall public health system, for generations to come.

Attendees at this workshop are encouraged to register from a variety of professional backgrounds, including academia, federal/state/local law enforcement, industry regulatory agencies, public health departments, private industry (producers, transportation companies, retailers, etc.), veterinary medicine, emergency management and more.

Refer to attachments for more information and early registration is strongly encouraged due to limited seating.
