At Manure Science Review, find out what we’ve learned from field edges studies about manure nutrient runoff and how planning can reduce runoff risk, saving money and the environment. Check out equipment demonstrations, including injecting poultry litter, smoking tile drainage and more. The event includes seminars, field demonstrations and lunch. The all-day event qualifies for Certified Crop Advisor, Professional Engineer and Indiana Office of State Chemist continuing education credits.

AGENDA (8:45 am – 4:00 pm)

Registration. Coffee and donuts.

Lessons Learned: Winter 2015. In March, a thaw followed manure application on snow-covered fields in western Ohio, leading to runoff and many calls to regulatory agencies.Terry Mescher and Jocelyn Henderson, ODNR-DSWR

Emergency Planning 101. Actions you can take now to prevent a spill and plans for what to do in case of a spill. Matt Adams, Custom Applicator

Nutrient Movement: Data from Edge of Field Studies. Conducted throughout Ohio, these studies can provide guidance in applying manure to minimize nutrient runoff. Kevin King, USDA-ARS

Extending the Application Window. Field research using manure to side-dress corn can increase crop yield and extend manure storage capacity. Glen Arnold, OSU Extension

Lunch (included in registration)
