Palmer participating in intensive agricultural leadership program

Dresden resident Brian Palmer is one of 23 farmers and agribusiness professionals selected by Ohio Farm Bureau Federation to participate in the 2017-2018 AgriPOWER Institute.

OFBF launched AgriPOWER in 2008 as an elite training program designed to help participants become leaders and advocates for agriculture. The yearlong program consists of seven two-to-three-day training sessions that focus on public policy issues confronting agriculture and the food industry.

Palmer is a firefighter and paramedic for West Licking Joint Fire District. His family operates a small cow-calf operation and raises hay. He is a Cass Township trustee, vice president of International Association of Firefighters Local 3025, president of the Muskingum County Health Department District Advisory Council and member of the Muskingum County Cattlemen’s Association and Ohio Sheep Improvement Association.

“Past participants in this program have really excelled at becoming effective advocates for the food and agricultural industries. But it’s much more than leadership training — class members bond with each other as they share their experiences in the workplace, community and home,” said Melinda Witten, AgriPOWER director.
