This year’s Land and Living exhibit at the Ohio State Fair will have a new look and many new experiences to connect fairgoers to Ohio agriculture. This highly interactive exhibit will be packed with agricultural education activities the whole family can enjoy. Visitors will see, experience and learn about caring for animals on the farm, how science and technology are helping farmers produce safe food while enhancing environmental resources, how scientists are researching solutions to the biggest food and farming challenges, plus how young people can have careers in agriculture. The Nationwide Donahey Land & Living Building is open daily 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the fair July 24-Aug 4.
Thank You to the Land and Living sponsors:
Featured exhibitors will include Ohio Pork Council, Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association, Ohio 4-H, Ohio Christmas Tree Association, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Ohio State Grange and Central State University among others.
Ohio Farm Bureau is proudly supporting the inaugural Dean’s Charity Steer Show at 2 p.m., July 30, in the Voinovich Livestock and Trade Center at the Ohio State Fair. The competition will be hosted by Cathann Kress, vice president for agricultural administration and dean of the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at the Ohio State University along with Ohio Cattlemen’s Association and Telhio Credit Union.
Ohio Farm Bureau Executive Vice President Adam Sharp will be partnering with a 4-Her to show a steer during the show. Awards include best steer, showmanship and people’s choice. Sharp joins other local celebrities in the competition with one common goal of supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Ohio.
Farm Bureau members are being asked to show their support (and help Sharp reach his fundraising goal) by contributing to the cause. And here is the big news: for every donation a member makes, the Ohio Farm Bureau Foundation will match the contribution.
The mission of RMHC is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.
American Farm Bureau Federation recently set a goal to raise $100,000 in honor of AFBF’s Centennial. AFBF has been supporting RMHC since 1997. Funds raised from Ohio’s efforts with the Dean’s Charity Steer Show will also be credited toward AFBF’s goal.
