It was a pleasure to have Ohio Farm Bureau Executive Vice President Adam Sharp join the event as one of the speakers for the annual meeting. Sharp talked about the close relationship Farm Bureau has with Ohio Soybean Council, Ohio commodity groups and Ohio State University. He also summarized the critical infrastructure Farm Bureau had during the beginning of the pandemic when agriculture was declared a critical and essential industry. Ohio Farm Bureau had a role in keeping county fairs alive this year along with intense lobbying in Washington, D.C. for agriculture. Sharp looks forward to the future of Farm Bureau as the organization continues to study the needs of the counties to better serve and give value to members. 

The Ohio Soybean Council shared its passion for agricultural education by explaining the resources available to students. Grow Next Gen brings agriculture science to the classroom by providing real-world educational tools to engage the next generation workforce. OSC expressed how important it is for youth to understand where their food comes from, the true science behind GMOs and the variety of ag careers students can choose from in the future. The Council’s “Future Eats” program is targeted to college students. Any student can participate, but the program is geared toward those who may not be majoring in agriculture or have an ag background. Through this program, students are able to go on farm tours and learn valuable insights agriculture has to bring to the table. Farm Bureau is proud to be working with such a diligent organization! 

Raffle prize winners

Vivkie Wilcox won the local meat bundle from Winner’s Meats.

The winner of the Green Mountain Daniel Boone Prime Wifi Pellet Grill, cover and three bags of pellets was Roger High.

There was a great turnout considering the times. Members were overjoyed to be able to get out and gather as an organization, including voting on proposed policies and leadership positions. Smiles all across the room were genuine and sincere. We hope for an even larger crowd next year!
