Solar eclipse resources offered to Ohio landowners
Landowner resources to help them prepare for an influx of people coming to rural parts of the state hoping to get a glimpse of this rare phenomenon April 8.
Read MoreThe Woodland Wednesday workshop series was started in 2020 to address topics related to woodland health and wildlife management in northeast Ohio. According to ODNR, Ohio has around 8 million acres of forested land, and private woodland owners hold over 80% of that land.
The series is intended to help woodland owners manage those properties. Well-managed woodlands improve forest health, aesthetics, and wildlife habitat. It also provides soil stabilization, clean water, self-satisfaction, and a potential source of income.
Woodland Wednesdays are made possible through partnerships between Northeast Counties Farm Bureau (Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, and Trumbull counties), Soil and Water Conservation Districts (Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Trumbull, and Portage), USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, ODNR Division of Forestry, and Holden Arboretum.
