2024 Clermont scholarship winner

On Aug. 1, 2024, members of the Clermont County Farm Bureau gathered at the Grant Career Center in Bethel for their annual meeting. The event kicked off with a delicious dinner from Mayslick Dinner Bell Restaurant. The meeting, led by President Joe Glassmeyer III, included highlights such as volunteer recognition, trustee elections, and updates on Farm Bureau initiatives. The night also honored members who contributed to the organization and recognized scholarship winners, including the first recipients of the Don Andrews Memorial Scholarship.

A highlight of the evening was a presentation by Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Brian Baldridge. Director Baldridge offered an overview of ODA’s priorities, including the H2Ohio water quality initiative, and farmland preservation efforts. He shared updates on state fairgrounds improvements and emphasized the importance of investing in agricultural youth. Reflecting on his career journey, Baldridge shared an inspiring message about resilience and finding opportunities in setbacks, encouraging attendees to continue advocating for agriculture.

The evening concluded with members voting on local and state policies, electing trustees, and finalizing plans for future events. Updates on the upcoming Farm Tour were also shared, highlighting opportunities for member engagement. With meaningful discussions, the annual meeting exhibits Farm Bureau’s ongoing commitment to agriculture and its members.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
