Lawrence County Farm Bureau hosts 2nd Annual Farm to Fork

Lawrence  Farm Bureau hosted the 2nd Annual Farm to Fork event Aug. 22, 2024 at The Hay Loft in Kitts Hill.

The Farm to Fork dinner was held to raise money for the Lawrence County Impact Fund. The fund allows the Lawrence County Farm Bureau board the opportunity to take Ag Literacy Kits into each of the county’s elementary schools, along with offering  two $250 teacher scholarships.

On the night of Aug. 22, our dinner was all sourced from southeast Ohio and made into a tasty dinner by Chef Heidi Clark of Spice of Life Catering. Special music was played by Cole Gannon. Our guest speakers for the night were Mrs. Becky McCLelland, third grade teacher at Chesapeake Elementary, and two of her students, Ethan and Chase. The three of them were able to talk about the teacher grant they received in the last school year and what they were able to grow and learn in their hydroponic system! A silent auction was held to aid in raising more money for the impact fund.

Without the help of our various sponsors and donations the night would not have been nearly as successful!

  • Ohio Valley Bank – Ironton
  • UK Kings Daughters
  • Tri-State Surgery Center
  • Tarheelbilly Farms
  • Shagbark Seed & Mill

The menu items for the night were brought to us by various different farms and businesses:

  • R & C Packing
  • McDowell Farms – Chad McDowell
  • Fuhrmann Orchards
  • Shagbark Seed & Mill
  • Snowville Creamery
  • Tarheelbilly Farms
  • Thornton Eggspedition
  • Becky’s Jams & More
  • Impact Prevention Youth Garden
  • River Roasters Coffee Co.

Many thanks to all those who helped to make the night a wonderful success. The night was enjoyed by all and we can not wait to see what next year holds!

The mission of Ohio Farm Bureau is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
