2024 Guernsey Graze

Guernsey County Farm Bureau was very pleased to be able to hold the Guernsey Graze, a farm to table dinner in October to benefit three FFA chapters in the county.

With the help of donors, the county Farm Bureau raised over $20,000 to help with future programming for Buckeye Trail FFA, Meadowbrook FFA and Mid-East Career Center FFA.

Event sponsors at the $1000 level included: Ascent Resources, Bears Den/360 Burger, Bond Family in memory of Robert Bond, Farm Credit Mid-America, Gray’s Family Farm, I70 Auctions, Guernsey Power Station, M&M Feed and Supply, Oakley Cattle & Oakley Contracting, McCormick Farm, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1105, Infinity Natural Resources, and Teal Dove.

Chef Nicole Bates served a locally sourced gourmet meal consisting of smoked lamb with mint sauce, smoked turkey with sausage and herb stuffing, beef tips with mushroom risotto along with numerous side dishes. Charcuterie boards with the FFA emblem along with cheeses and meat adorned the tables. The meal was provided in large part by donations from Peoli Produce Auction. Entertainment was provided by Landon Tom.

A live and silent auction was held with numerous donated items from local businesses. We thank all of our donors, participants and sponsors for a highly successful evening.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
