2023 Huron County Scholarship Winners

The Huron County Farm Bureau would like to congratulate the recipients of our 2023 Scholarships and and the Teachers Grant. 

The winner of our Teacher’s Grant, Becky Parcher, teaches at Historic Lyme Village Pioneer Camp located in Bellevue. She received $250 for the grant which she will be using to hatch chickens and grow vegetables as the pioneers did.

Scholarship winners

Emily Stevens received a $500 Continuing Education Scholarship. Emily is a 2022 New London High School graduate. She is attending Northern Oklahoma College majoring in agriculture business. Emily is the daughter of Dan & Nicole Stevens. 

Holden Nuhn also received a $500 Continuing Education Scholarship. Holden is a 2022 Western Reserve High School graduate. Holden is attending Wilmington College majoring in agriculture education. Holden is the son of Jeff Nuhn & Wendie Parsons-Nuhn. 

Kathleen Woodruff received a $500 Agricultural Scholarship for High School Seniors.  Kathleen is a 2023 Western Reserve High School graduate. She plans to attend The Ohio State University where she plans to have an agriculture education major. 

Anita Ruggles also received a $500 Agricultural Scholarship for High School Seniors. Anita is a 2023 graduate of Monroeville High School. She is the daughter of Marc & Betsy Ruggles. Anita plans to attend The Ohio State University ATI (Agricultural Technical Institute) with and agriculture business major.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

We work terrifically with the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau, hosting at least one to two outreach town hall events every year to educate new farmers and existing farmers on traditional CAUV and woodlands.

Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.
