Here’s what puts the “happy” in Happy Hour! It’s a completely refreshing way to welcome guests. Be sure to seek out Ohio brands of gin, such as Watershed Distillery where the classic juniper notes are subdued. If you’re new to mixology, “muddle” simply means to press or pin the ingredients against the side of glass with the back of a spoon. This releases the flavors of the ingredients to bind with the spirits.
Makes 1 cocktailIngredients
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon lime juice
- 3 juicy, fresh strawberries , cleaned, hulled and sliced
- 3 ounces gin
- Club soda
- Strawberries , for garnish
- Fresh sprigs of mint , for garnish
Directions
In a tall glass, combine the sugar and lime juice. Stir to dissolve the sugar. Add the sliced strawberries and lightly muddle, releasing some juice. Fill the glass with ice, add the gin and top with a splash of club soda. Serve with a berry garnish and a sprig of mint. Cheers!
