Maxwell is a lieutenant with the Hopewell Township Fire Department. He and his wife, Margo, have a Polypay sheep and registered cattle operation. He is vice president of Perry County Farm Bureau, a 4-H advisor, supervisor for the Perry Soil and Water Conservation District, FFA alumni member and public relations coordinator for the Hopewell Township Firefighters Association.
