Saturday, Feb. 10, the Ohio FFA Alumni Association, along with Miami County Farm Bureau, will host a community, agriculture leadership event at Hobart Arena in Troy. The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the importance of agriculture in providing food, fiber, and natural resources for our communities and the world. Along with FFA members, Ag Ed teachers/FFA advisors, FFA alumni members, Farm Bureau members, 4-H, young farmers, Ohio Grange members, this is a community and statewide event, and all are invited.

On the day of the event, a light breakfast refreshment will be offered during registration and check in from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. At 9 am, Ohio FFA Alumni will conduct a short business and awards meeting. Lunch will be provided from noon to 1 p.m. Between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., interactive leadership workshops will be presented by Greg Peterson of the Peterson Farm Brothers, past Ohio and national FFA Officer Sydney Snider, past Ohio FFA officers Mary Buehler, Meredith Oglesby and Maggie Hovermale, National FFA Organization’s Karen Hutchinson, Miami County Farm Bureau, FedCrop, and other sponsors. Past Ohio and National FFA Officer Hannah (Crossen) Everetts will also be speaking about her FFA and agriculture journey.

Two outreach service projects have been planned as well. FFA members, Farm Bureau youth, 4-H members, young farmers, and community youth are encouraged to join us, along with Allstate Insurance, and help assemble personal hygiene kits which will be donated to Christian Aid Ministries (CAM) for redistribution. Several sponsors have graciously provided the necessary items for these kits. All attendees coming to the event are asked to bring canned good(s) which will then be sorted and donated to help replenish community food banks. These projects promote the essence of the FFA motto “Living to Serve.”

Around 5 p.m., doors will open for anyone who wishes to attend an evening concert at 6 p.m. featuring the Peterson Farm Brothers. Hobarts will offer concessions during the concert.
