For property tax purposes, farmland devoted exclusively to commercial agriculture may be valued according to its current use rather than at its “highest and best” potential use. This provision of Ohio law is known as the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) program. By permitting values to be set well below true market values, the CAUV normally results in a substantially lower tax bill for working farmers.

At this CAUV Education session on Jan. 23, the Ashtabula County Auditor’s office will discuss the basics of the Current Agricultural Use Value (CAUV) program including qualifications, application period, recoupment, and more!

Mandy Orahood, Ohio Farm Bureau Organization Director will share the critical role Farm Bureau had in the creation of CAUV and monitoring the impact of the program.

The program is in person, with a virtual option.

Registration for the in-person session is not required, however, to join the educational session virtually, please register.
