October 26 Registration Deadline is Approaching

The American Society of Agronomy is offering of a 4R online course to provide a greater understanding of 4R nutrient stewardship.

The registration deadline is Friday, Oct. 26. The course facilitator is Bruce Erikson, a Certified Professional Agronomist, ASA Education Manager and the Adjunct Assistant Professor of Agronomy at Purdue University.

The eight-week course will begin on Nov. 1 with an orientation. Each two-hour session will then be held weekly on Tuesdays, and will conclude on January 15, 2013.

A 10-question question quiz will be offered after each lesson. A total of 16 continuing education units will be provided, with eight in Nutrient Management and four each in Soil and Water Management and Crop Management. The cost of the course is $320.

The 4R approach to Soil and Water Quality combines the science of plant nutrition and soil fertility with the right source, at the right rate, at the right time and at the right place. The online course will offer practical examples and case situations to applications in the field.
