Jason Hayes resides in Kingsville, Ohio with his wife, Amanda, and their two daughters, Abigail and Emily. Jason earned his bachelor’s degree in agriculture in 1999. He farms 50 acres of hay and raises 20 head of Angus cattle. Jason is also an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper. He has been a Farm Bureau member for seven years and has served on the Ashtabula County board of trustees for four years and as the co-chair of the public policy committee. Jason also has served on the budget, scholarship and Ag Day committees. He was a delegate for the 2016 Farm Bureau Annual Meeting in 2016 and will be a delegate in 2018.

The Farm Bureau is a voice for agriculture in Columbus and Washington. I like being a voice for agriculture in Ashtabula. Interacting with members and the board at events and functions has been educational and beneficial. There is a lot of work that goes on in the Farm Bureau and it is fun to be a part of it.”

Thank you, Jason, for your dedication to Ashtabula County Farm Bureau. We appreciate all that you do.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
