Group Member Business Spotlight

Every one of our members is unique and so are their stories. Each week, the Group Member Spotlight takes a behind-the-scenes look at one of our group/business sponsorship members to showcase their story of who they are and what they do!

Our Next Group Spotlight is…Sherman Welding

Sherman Welding
Sherman’s Welding was started in 1997 as primarily a mobile welding repair business servicing industrial customers across northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania.

In 1998 they purchased a manufacturing facility in E. Springfield, Pennsylvania.

In 2014 they purchased their current 30,000 sq. ft. building in Geneva, Ohio and moved all operations there; they have maintained a crew on average of 13 people consistently since 1997 in Ashtabula County.

In 2015 they began the welding supply business at 2730 Walter Main Rd. Geneva, Ohio to fill a need in Ashtabula County. They are the only full-service welding supply store in the county. They sell and stock steel, welding supplies and all standard gases and propane for welders, farmers and homeowners.

Sherman’s Welding manufactures custom heavy duty truck beds. They also build custom flatbeds and dump truck beds in Geneva, Ohio for several regional dealers and truck upfitters. They also offer a line of lighter duty flatbeds for smaller trucks.

Sherman’s Welding offers industrial sandblasting at this location as well. Visit them in Geneva, on their website, or on Facebook to find out more.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
