Union County Farm Bureau

We encourage our members to join us for our Annual Meeting on Thursday, Sept. 7 2023.

Location: Union Rural Electric, Marysville, OH 43040

Cost: $15 per person

RSVP by Aug. 31 by phone 800-451-8908 or email [email protected].

Below are the proposed policies for local, state, and national levels.

Local

  1. We oppose industrial solar on prime farmland.
  2. We support the positioning of mailboxes and newspaper boxes according to the Federal Postal Regulations and encourage placing them on the same side of the road. We support enforcement, by either the county engineer or county zoning inspector, of the minimum set back requirement where applicable for mail and paper boxes along state, county and township roads. If there is not a setback distance, then one should be established. We propose a standard three feet from the edge of the road setback for mailboxes to facilitate the movement 30 of large equipment.
  3. We encourage our members to take advantage of mental health resources in our county. We also support local law enforcement and county agencies efforts to provide these resources to our community.

 State

  1. We oppose industrial solar on prime farmland.

Education of farmers: Our board members will try to address at the township level on agritourism operations not be exempt from certain codes one example is fire codes.

To grow a network and gain perspective and knowledge in the industry through personal and professional development has been invaluable. Every day I learn and grow.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
