Read MoreThe 2024 Hog Wild Contest came to an end Saturday with the winners being announced at the Main Stage of the Jackson County Apple Festival. Congratulations to Happenings Bistro – Pig Quest; the people of Jackson County have voted you the TOP HOG of the county by contributing over 27,468 votes or $274.68 in your pig in just seven days! Your grand total for both Rounds 1 & 2 is $676.31. The People’s Choice Award went to Jackson County Banking Center – Piggy Rose, which collected 54,551 votes in their pig tallying $545.51 in the first round of voting alone. This year’s Most Creative/Original Hog Award went to Southern Ohio Smiles – Pork N Pop and the most Facebook Likes winner was Davis Veterinary Services – Miss Apple Blossom with 242 likes.
This year the Hog Wild Contest raised a total of 592,169 votes or $5,921.69 cash! We had 40 hogs participate, which means 40 businesses competed to see who could decorate their hog and get out and get the most votes (money) raised for scholarships and other youth activities that we get requests for in Jackson and Vinton counties.
This contest started out giving one scholarship, and now because of this event, we proudly give six scholarships and will continue to increase that number each year. Thank you to all of the businesses who participated in the Hog Wild Contest this year!
