Dear Ross County Farm Bureau Member,

The United States is experiencing an epidemic of drug overdose deaths. The number of deaths due to drug overdose in Ohio is 38 per 100,000 population. Ross County has nearly twice the state average: 61 deaths due to drug overdose at equal measurement.

The Ross County Farm Bureau recognized the growing problem of substance abuse and lack of local resources to address the issue and took action. Inspired by suggestions from the membership body at our annual policy breakfast, The Ross County Farm Bureau developed and enacted policies to support drug prevention programs and back local law enforcement in the local battle against the drugs.

The county Farm Bureau allied with Drug Free Clubs of America’s M.A.D.E. (My Attitude Determines Everything), a nationally recognized drug prevention and education program for youth, to address the issue at a time in life when intervention is most successful. 79% of students say participating in the in Drug Free Clubs of America will ‘absolutely’ have a positive impact on their long-term future.

The Ross County Farm Bureau resolved to raise funds to support local M.A.D.E. chapters with an annual M.A.D.E. on the Farm fundraiser event. The inaugural M.A.D.E on the Farm fundraiser was held in 2018. The event raised $10,000. M.A.D.E. on the Farm 2019 raised $12,000, and earned a prestigious award from the American Farm Bureau Federation.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions the Ross County Farm Bureau is unable to hold M.A.D.E. on the Farm in 2020. We need members’ help to continue support that keeps our kids and community drug free.

The cost to participate in M.A.D.E. is $67 per student, per school year. We ask Farm Bureau members to sponsor a student for the 2020-21 school year. The Ross County Farm Bureau will match sponsorships 1:1. Our goal is to match 100 student sponsorships during the 2020-21 school year.

Sponsor a student online, or call 740-474-6284 to pay by phone. Mail the following form and check to Ross County Farm Bureau, 24633 US Hwy 23S, Circleville, OH 43113. Thank you for your support!

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
