Aug. 22, Clinton County Farm Bureau held its annual meeting at the Wilmington College Academic Farm. The meal was catered by Shoelaces Catering, and Joel Hogle provided the entertainment. During the meeting, District 19 State Trustee Nicol Reiterman discussed membership. Our guest speaker was Wilmington College’s interim President, Corey Cockerill. She talked about how the college is expanding and adapting to meet more of the students’ needs. Afterward, this year’s Member of Distinction Award winner Amanda McKay offered a tour of the college farm. Lastly, the Celebrity Cake Auction raised enough money to buy a hog for the Bacon & Bits program. Bacon & Bits is a 4-H club dedicated to helping the at-risk youths by raising an animal to show at the fair. They learn positive life skills, boost their self confidence, and increase their desire to get involved with their community.
