Delaware, Union County Farm Bureaus hold Benefit in the Barn

Delaware, Union County Farm Bureaus hold Benefit in the BarnDelaware and Union County Farm Bureaus hosted the 10th Annual Benefit in the Barn Aug. 17, 2024 at Lee Farms in Marysville.

The Lee Family opened their farm to what has become a signature late-summer occasion bringing consumers and farmers together for food, entertainment, fun and a purpose.

Benefit in the Barn spotlights hunger issues in our community, raising funding to help address the issue while also providing opportunities for dialogue between consumers and farmers.

We’re proud to announce this year’s Benefit in the Barn raised $75,134.54 for our local hunger relief agencies! The funds were split $37,567.27 to the Delaware County Hunger Alliance, and The Hope Center – Marysville, Ohio received $37,567.27.

Farm Bureau Organization Director Melinda Lee said, “It is an honor and privilege to work with such a dedicated group of people to work toward the goal of ending hunger in our communities. Having Delaware and Union County Farm Bureaus collaborate on this mission is wonderful. We could not do it without the support of all of our event sponsors, so thank you for your partnership & for making 2024 a successful year.”

The mission of the Ohio Farm Bureau is working together for Ohio farmers to advance agriculture and strengthen our communities.

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

Youth pathways in Farm Bureau
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
