Meet Preble County Farm Bureau Trustee Darrell Wilson

Darrell Wilson is a Preble County Farm Bureau Trustee. He has been a Farm Bureau member for 20 years, and on the board for seven years. He wanted to lend a helping hand to the agricultural community by joining Farm Bureau. Darrell enjoys educating other farmers and community members about agriculture because it plays such a major part in his life. He also likes being a part of an organization that provides food, fiber, and fuel to people across the country. Aside from Farm Bureau, Darrell has a 400 acre farm, where he grows corn, wheat and soybeans, as well as hogs and beef cattle. He is also active on his church board and with his family. He has a teaching degree, and occasionally substitutes at schools across Preble County. He has been blessed with two sons and six grandchildren. He has been married for 54 years to his wife, Kay. Darrell enjoys spending time with his family and hopes to encourage the younger generations to take part in Farm Bureau and in agriculture.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
