The flavor of the honey comes through in these delightful little rounds that are wonderful for dips or to accompany a luncheon salad.
Ingredients
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2/3 cup hot water
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon cracked black pepper
Directions
Using a food processor fitted with a metal blade, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. In a small bowl, stir the hot water and honey together until combined. While the machine is running, pour the water mixture into the bowl. Process 10 seconds to combine. In a small bowl, combine the cold water and vegetable oil.
While the machine is running, add the mixture. Process until the dough forms a ball, about 10 to 15 seconds. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for 2 to 3 minutes, adding additional flour if necessary to keep the dough from sticking from the surface. The dough should be light and soft.
Divide the dough into 16 equal pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece out into a 6-inch circle.
Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add a flatbread and cook for one minute on the first side; flip to the other side and cook an additional 30 seconds. Remove to a wire rack to cool. Repeat with the remaining breads. Serve immediately.
Makes 16 6-inch flat breads.
