Read MoreMastead Farms was established in 1973 allowing the farm to extend through six generations. Gary Mast is a full-time farmer who leads a team of hard working employees that assist him with custom harvesting over 8,000 acres of rye, hay, corn silage, and high moisture ear corn each year.
As if the farm did not keep Gary busy enough, he has previously served as the president of Holmes County Farm Bureau. Gary has been widely recognized with multiple state and national awards. He is a member of the Ohio Agricultural Hall of Fame and received his Honorary FFA American Farmer Degree, as well as served as president of the National Association of Conservation Districts from 2003-2005.
Gary, a strong advocate for Farm Bureau said, “Farm Bureau is agriculture’s best advocate for the unique business we are in. There is a declining population of farmers and reduced understanding of what is required for agriculture production. Farm Bureau, through publications, outreach and education informs the public about rural life and agriculture production. As a member, I appreciate uniting with the thousands of fellow members and assisting with shaping the laws and regulations that affect agriculture in a positive or negative manner.”
Holmes County Farm Bureau is proud to have Gary and Mastead Farms as members of our county, and we are thankful for all Gary has done to advocate and promote Ohio Agriculture.
