Farm Bureau applauds Congress for full passage of Continuing Resolution
The bill includes short-term spending, disaster aid and a farm bill extension.
Read MoreThursday, Sept. 10 at the Belmont County Fair, six buyers purchased market hogs to be donated back to Belmont County Farm Bureau. Those buyers were T.J. Jefferis, Bridgeport Equipment and Tool, EQT Corporation, Buckeye Steel Inc., Ag Pro and Ebbert Farm Market.
Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry paid for the processing and a total of 1,560 pounds of pork were donated to 11 area food banks. Devin Cain, Belmont County Farm Bureau trustee, delivered the pork.
As a result of these joint efforts, food banks in Flushing and Martins Ferry, along with Saint Vincent De Paul Society of Barnesville, First Christian Church Five Loaves Food Pantry in Barnesville, Bridgeport Christian Friendship Council of Churches Food Pantry, Bethesda Project, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Colerain, Bellaire Salvation Army, Glencoe Community Center of Glencoe, Shadyside Fellowship UMC Pantry and St. Clairsville Council of Churches Food Pantry were recipients of the packages of pork.
