Belmont County pork donation

Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Belmont County Fair, six buyers purchased market hogs to be donated back to Belmont County Farm Bureau. Those buyers were T.J. Jefferis, Bridgeport Equipment and Tool, EQT Corporation, Buckeye Steel Inc., Ag Pro and Ebbert Farm Market.

Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry paid for the processing and a total of 1,560 pounds of pork were donated to 11 area food banks. Devin Cain, Belmont County Farm Bureau trustee, delivered the pork.

Belmont pork donationAs a result of these joint efforts, food banks in Flushing and Martins Ferry, along with Saint Vincent De Paul Society of Barnesville, First Christian Church Five Loaves Food Pantry in Barnesville, Bridgeport Christian Friendship Council of Churches Food Pantry, Bethesda Project, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church of Colerain, Bellaire Salvation Army, Glencoe Community Center of Glencoe, Shadyside Fellowship UMC Pantry and St. Clairsville Council of Churches Food Pantry were recipients of the packages of pork.

Thank you to the buyers and Farmers and Hunters Feeding the Hungry again for the generous help and support.

The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
