Planting is an essential part in keeping our community thriving! When humans first domesticated crops thousands of years ago, farmers began collecting the seeds to use for the next planting season. There was much trial and error to figure out what plants were able to grow in each region, and a focus turned to crop breeding. Since then it has become common practice to use seeds in trade deals and as gifts to enrich the community agriculture.

We invite you to swap seeds with your neighbors this National Seed Swap Day, Jan. 28! As you plan for your planting season, remember to fill your garden and land with native Ohio plants to help our pollinator friends. This article is a great read on helping local pollinators.
