Don Andrews Memorial Scholarship

In honor of Mr. Don Andrews, Clermont County Farm Bureau is pleased to support the Don Andrews Scholarship Fund. Don Andrews was an active member in the Clermont County Farm Bureau. He served many roles within the organization ranging from president to policy chair, but most importantly, he was a true advocate and mentor. He believed in this
organization with great pleasure and delight. Don’s legacy will live on as his family has graciously started the Don Andrews Memorial Scholarship.

Up to three $750 scholarships may be awarded to 2024 Clermont County, Ohio high school graduates who will be attending an institution of higher education and majoring in an agricultural field. It is not necessary that the applicant have a farm background. As long as the parents/guardians of the student are members of the Clermont County Farm Bureau, the student is eligible.

Preference will be given to agriculture, animal science, horticulture, science and chemistry majors, and education majors specializing in the above areas of study. Evaluation of the applicants will be based on academic achievement, school /community activities and demonstration of leadership.

Applications are available online or can be obtained through local high schools’ guidance counselor’s offices. To obtain a scholarship, applicants must send a completed application, a copy of their high school transcript and a wallet-size photo to the Clermont County Farm Bureau, PO Box 288, Georgetown, OH 45121. All applications must be received by 4 p.m. on April 30, 2024.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call the Clermont County Farm Bureau office at 937-378-2212. Office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.

Finding farm labor
I appreciate the benefit of having a strong voice in my corner. The extras that are included in membership are wonderful, but I'm a member because of the positive impact to my local and state agricultural communities.

Strong communities
We work terrifically with the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau, hosting at least one to two outreach town hall events every year to educate new farmers and existing farmers on traditional CAUV and woodlands.

CAUV: Past, present and future
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
