Muskingum County Farm Bureau Summer Internships

 Description of Duties

Muskingum County Farm Bureau is seeking one individual to serve as an intern for our summer programs. The intern will assist the county in teaching and providing direction (with Farm Bureau staff assistance) to county fair youth volunteers. The intern will be responsible for planning, executing, and staffing the Building for the Future of Agriculture exhibit with volunteers at the Muskingum County Fair. This program provides the opportunity to interact with many leaders in Ohio agriculture and Ohio government.

Length of internship June-Aug. 18. This Internship is 300 hours. This is a paid position

Intern Responsibilities

Assist county Farm Bureau staff and volunteer committee with Building for the Future of Agriculture design and implementation at the Muskingum County Fair. Work in conjunction with exhibit partners, contractors, and staff on the development of the exhibit budget, educational components, implementation of virtual reality, and exhibit set up and tear down.

Coordinate staffing of Building for the Future of Agriculture during the fair. Staffing includes Farm Bureau staff, allied industry groups, and volunteers. Includes scheduling and training of staff and the development of a daily procedure manual.

Coordinate media relations with Farm Bureau staff. In conjunction with the staff, develop media packets. Develop a plan to leverage the educational components of the exhibit via media contacts and placement.

Assist Ohio Farm Bureau staff in the development and implementation of a youth agriculture education program designed to complement the Building for the Future of Agriculture exhibit.

Serve as an ambassador for Ohio agriculture to fair attendees.

Assist the county Farm Bureau with planning and implementation of summer educational programs.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be entering or enrolled in a post-secondary education program. Preferred programs are those pursuing an education in agriculture, education, and/or communication.

Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor conditions

Must have reliable transportation

Must be proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)

Must be able to stand for long periods

Must be available every day of the Muskingum County Fair and the set-up days prior.
