Ohio Farm Bureau is joining with Ohio No-Till Council to provide a “healthy” evening Wednesday, Aug. 27 at the Fred Yoder Farm, 7050 Butler Ave., Plain City, starting at 5 p.m.
The program focuses on “Healthy Soils, Healthy Food, Healthy People.” Farm Bureau members in Madison, Union, Delaware, and Franklin counties can attend free, and the cost for all others is $20. This includes a meal with pork BBQ sandwiches.
Landowners who rent to tenant farmers will learn from four no-till farmers who will share how their practices build value for the owner through conserving soil and making it healthier.
Jim Ippolito, OSU endowed professor, will speak on “Healthy Foods Require Healthy Soil (including micronutrients, iron and zinc).” Mike Bailey, Ohio Farm Bureau senior vice president, operations & partnerships, will describe the new Farm Bureau Health Plan for members. Fred and Josh Yoder will describe ho no-till cover crops made their land more productive.
