2-Hour Safety Training
Each year, businesses participating in the Farm Bureau Workers’ Comp Group Rating program are expected to complete two hours of basic safety training to enhance workplace safety and meet BWC participation requirements.(See group rating safety accountability letter.)
Choose Your Training Track
Participating businesses can satisfy the 2-hour training by attending one session or by combining shorter videos and webinars. All training shall be completed within the policy year, which ends June 30.
Choose the track that best fits your business needs:
- Attend a county Farm Bureau sponsored safety event – seasonal. Check your county Farm Bureau webpage for any upcoming safety events. Participation is tracked by the county Farm Bureau at each event.
- The Ohio BWC Learning Center serves as a vital tool for fulfilling the 2-hour annual safety training requirement. Participants can access a variety of qualifying e-courses, webinars, and virtual training classes by creating a separate Learning Center account using their company’s active BWC policy number. Once training is completed through the portal, members must submit completion via the Ohio Farm Bureau Workers’ Comp Reporting Tool in order to maintain their group discount eligibility.
- Watch the Farm Equipment and Rural Road Safety program on YouTube, sponsored by Ohio Farm Bureau and Nationwide. This training focuses on the critical safety protocols required for operating heavy machinery on public roads, specifically highlighting the use of lighting and slow moving vehicle (SMV) signs to improve visibility. It also provides defensive driving strategies for both farmers and motorists to prevent common rural accidents, such as rear-end collisions and left-turn incidents.Once the video has been completed, members must submit completion via the Ohio Farm Bureau Workers’ Comp Reporting Tool in order to maintain their group discount eligibility.
- Watch any combination of Nationwide Agribusiness risk management safety videos, totaling two hours of run time. These videos cover a number of items, from agritourism to fire prevention to harvest safety. Once the videos have been completed, members must submit completion via the Ohio Farm Bureau Workers’ Comp Reporting Tool in order to maintain their group discount eligibility.
- Ohio Farm Bureau’s Group Rating Third Party Administrator, Sedgwick, offers a series of online, webinar based educational programming for clients. Course descriptions and times for upcoming events can be found under their Client Education Program.
