With the fall season quickly approaching, it is once again almost time for Trumbull County Farm Bureau’s annual meeting. Each year, our meeting is held at a local member’s business or farm. Each event consists of the annual business meeting as well as comradery among farmers.
This year’s annual meeting is Oct. 5 at CDL Maple in Farmdale. The meeting is set to be a breakfast for local Farm Bureau members to come out, partake in the grassroots organization’s meeting, enjoy a meal together and see what all Farm Bureau is doing throughout the year. Not only are updates in the county given, but scholarship award winners are announced, and other awards are presented as well.
In addition, many local businesses very generously donate gift cards, raffle baskets, etc. Members can purchase tickets for a chance at winning a variety of locally made goods, or vouchers to support local businesses. Not only is this a good fundraiser for Farm Bureau, but it is also a great way for these smaller businesses to get their name and products advertised.
If you are a Farm Bureau member, even if you’re not very active in the organization, I highly encourage you to come out to this year’s event for the chance to see all of what your membership has to offer and what we as an organization are doing for you and your farm. If you are not a Farm Bureau member, but see this as a point of interest to you, I highly encourage you to look into joining the organization, or even just coming out to the annual meeting to see what all we are about and ways you can get involved and make a difference in your local farming community.
Personally, being a Farm Bureau member has been so much more than a membership to me. I have made many lifelong friends, experienced many educational events and traveled to many great learning and leadership events. Also, being a member allows me to advocate for farming in my local community. Many of us don’t hesitate to sign up for the next movie rental subscription, or free shipping program, so why not sign up for an organization that is making moves to better the local community and helping farmers and their businesses succeed.

The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.
The plan we are on is great. It’s comparable to my previous job's plan, and we are a sole proprietor.
I could not have done it without the resources I have found through Farm Bureau.
We really appreciate what Farm Bureau has done to get people interested in this line of work and workforce development and getting people interested in this industry.
We work terrifically with the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau, hosting at least one to two outreach town hall events every year to educate new farmers and existing farmers on traditional CAUV and woodlands.
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.
