Amanda Barndt

Amanda Barndt is president of the Wood County Farm Bureau Board of Trustees. She is a very active member and continues to be involved at every level, whether that’s leading her county board or advocating for her county in Washington, DC. Barndt continues to better herself personally and professionally through Farm Bureau with her most recent accomplishment of being accepted into Ohio Farm Bureau’s elite leadership program, AgriPOWER

“I have been a Farm Bureau member since 2016 and have repeatedly seen the value come to fruition when engaging our legislators at the local, state, and national levels. My membership pays for advancing on-farm business solutions, leveraging trends, creating growth opportunities, and shaping policy.

“Wood County helps advance on-farm business solutions by being heavily involved in our local community and supporting our youth at the county fair. We leverage trends by offering events that educate members on mental health and workers’ compensation. We create opportunities for growth by hosting events that raise money to fund our scholarship programs. And we shape policy by ensuring we are on a first-name basis with our legislators and have open dialogue on all essential policies.

“As a livestock farmer and equipment salesman, I know how important it is to have ag representation in Columbus and Washington, DC. My membership helps ensure local agriculture will be sustainable for a long time.”

Farm Bureau connections
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Bringing the farm back to life
Because we are younger farmers just starting out, Farm Bureau has a lot of good opportunities and resources to help us grow in the future.

Farm Bureau involvement
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

Select Partner Program
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
