Uriah Cade traveled to Washington, D.C. with 80 other county Farm Bureau presidents and staff March 11-13, 2025. Over three days, participants were briefed by American Farm Bureau on the issues that Ohio farmers are currently facing, like the need to pass a new five-year farm bill, the importance of trade and the impacts possible tariffs would have on Ohio agriculture, and the ramifications of current tax laws sunsetting at the end of 2025.
In D.C., Ohio Farm Bureau members had the opportunity to share those concerns with lawmakers and help them connect the dots between what needs to happen on the federal policy front in order to preserve the future of Ohio agriculture.
The agenda included policy briefings with staff from American Farm Bureau; a Farm Forum hosted by Rep. Troy Balderson; congressional meetings; visits to USDA, the Spanish Embassy and the Mexican Embassy; and breakfast meetings with speakers Sen. Jon Husted, Sen. Bernie Moreno and AFBF President Zippy Duvall.
“Meeting with our congressman and other elected officials during the Ohio Farm Bureau President’s trip was an unforgettable experience, reminding me that every voice matters in shaping our future as farmers and Americans,” Cade said.
