Lawrence County Farm Bureau awards teacher scholarships

Lawrence County Farm Bureau, in partnership with Lawrence County OSU Extension, is excited to announce the recipients of this year’s Farm Bureau Impact Fund Teacher Scholarship! This annual opportunity invites elementary teachers (K–5) from across the county to apply for one of two $250 scholarships to support creative and engaging agriculture-based experiences in their classrooms.

The 2025 scholarship winners are:

Cassidy CampbellRock Hill Elementary
Campbell’s project, “The Life Cycle of a Chick,” will bring hands-on science to her first grade classroom. Students will incubate chicken eggs, observe each stage of development, and experience the wonder of life firsthand—all while learning about biology, agriculture and responsibility.

Becky McClellandChesapeake Elementary
McClelland’s project, “A Fruitful Garden,” will expand her school’s garden with the addition of fruit trees. Students will help plant, care for, and eventually harvest fruit—turning their garden into a sustainable source of food and creativity, from classroom snacks to homemade recipes.

These scholarships are funded by proceeds from the Farm to Fork Dinner, a community event hosted each fall by the Lawrence County Farm Bureau and OSU Extension. Thank you to all who attend and support this effort—your contributions directly enhance agricultural education locally in our schools.

Congratulations to our incredible educators! We can’t wait to see these projects grow—literally and figuratively!

My first recommendation in your journey is to start out with a local farming friend or mentor along with joining an organization like Ohio Farm Bureau.

New and beginning farmers
We’re just so thankful for the Farm Bureau and the foundation for helping put this together. And of course, the Boyert family for the vision they had with this grant. It’s jumping us forward 10 years. It’s unbelievable.

Youth pathways in Farm Bureau
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

Giving farmers a voice
Through the Select Partner program, we became educated in farm insurance and weren't just selling policies. It became more and more clear why farmers need an advocate like Ohio Farm Bureau.

So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
