Summary

Muskingum County Farm Bureau is seeking someone to serve as an intern for our summer programs. The interns will assist MCFB in teaching and providing direction (with county Farm Bureau staff assistance) to county fair youth volunteers. The intern will be responsible for planning, executing and staffing the exhibit with volunteers at the Muskingum County Fair Aug. 16-22. The intern will also assist in the organization of other summer programs in the counties served at the Zanesville-Pomeroy office.

Description of Duties

The Muskingum County Farm Bureau in partnership with Athens-Meigs, Coshocton, Gallia, Holmes, Knox, Lawrence, Licking, Morgan, Perry, and Washington counties, is seeking an individual to serve as an intern for summer programs. The intern will assist MCFB in teaching and providing direction (with MCFB staff assistance) to County Fair Youth Volunteers. The intern will be responsible for planning, executing, and staffing the exhibit with volunteers at the Muskingum County Fair. Additional responsibilities could include phone calls, event preparation and other office duties. This program provides the opportunity to interact with many leaders in Ohio agriculture and the Ohio government.

Length of internship is May-August with flexibility based on school schedule. This is a paid internship with a maximum of 300 hours.

Intern Responsibilities

  • Assist MCFB staff and Volunteer Committee with Building for the Future of Agriculture design and implementation at the Muskingum County Fair Aug. 16-22, 2026.
  • Work in conjunction with exhibit partners, contractors, and staff on the development of the exhibit budget, educational components, implementing virtual reality, and exhibit set up and tear down.
  • Coordinate staffing including MCFB staff, allied industry groups, and volunteers. Includes scheduling and training of staff and the development of a daily procedure manual.
  • Prepare mailings and other event materials, make phone calls to members, assist at events as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Must be entering or enrolled in a post-secondary education program. Preferred programs are those pursuing an education in agriculture, education, and/or communication.

Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0

Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Must be able to work in indoor and outdoor conditions

Must have reliable transportation 

Must be proficient in Microsoft products (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)

Must be able to stand for long periods

Must be available every day of the Muskingum County Fair and the set-up days prior. Mandatory Dates Aug. 16 -22, 2026
