The 2026 Beef Producer BQA Certification and Calving Clinic was held Jan. 6 at United Producers, Inc. in Hillsboro. The event was organized by the Highland County Farm Bureau, United Producers, Inc., Bohrer Vet Services, OSU Extension, and Highland Feed and Supply. Local cattle producers attended to earn their Beef Quality Assurance (BQA) certification, a national program for management practices in cattle care and welfare.
Dr. Caleb Bohrer of Bohrer Vet Services led a hands-on calving demonstration during the program. The presentation focused on clinical techniques and best practices for the birthing process. Dr. Bohrer and the event organizers encouraged the participation of several local youth in this year’s hands-on demonstration.
This clinic is part of an ongoing series of educational meetings organized by Farm Bureau Board Trustee Tim Sheeley. By providing hands-on training, certification opportunities, and a variety of educational opportunities, the participating organizations aim to support the local agricultural workforce and the future of livestock production in Highland County.
