Ohio Farm Bureau’s newest on-farm business solution is looking for you.

Gripp, an all-in-one operations-first asset tracking and management app, has a practical approach to streamlining on-farm operations for the front line.

By consolidating their multifaceted farming operations in Gripp’s organized platform, farmers across the country who have adopted the technology are experiencing an increase in efficiency, productivity and the bottom line.

Gripp co-founder and CEO Tracey Wiedmeyer said the company is looking to the Buckeye State to establish its first farmer cohort for the 2027 growing season.

Onboarding Gripp alongside like-minded member farms, at a significant members-only discount, is what the Ohio Farm Bureau member cohort will focus on beginning in mid-January.

“Ohio’s business solutions approach for members was the reason we wanted to partner with Ohio Farm Bureau,” Wiedmeyer said. “Farmers feel the pain and are ready to adopt (Gripp).”

    A Gripp overview

The Gripp platform gives farmers space to keep track of what is happening on their operation in real time. It centralizes communication struggles seen with group text or WhatsApp, helps prioritize and track to completion everything from who has clocked in to when the fix was completed on the baler.

“Gripp offers an innovative, customizable approach to professionalize a growing operation,” said Tim Hicks, Ohio Farm Bureau partnerships and member solutions field director. “Gripp will help our members replace manual paperwork, bring efficiency and protect high-value machinery and infrastructure investments by pairing physical, scannable QR tags on equipment and much more with one simple mobile app.”

The Gripp cohort in Ohio will last for 60 days, Wiedmeyer said.

A technologist by trade, Wiedmeyer grew up on a farm and has owned and operated heavy equipment his whole life. The need for technology such as Gripp was born somewhat out of his own frustration with his own equipment.

“I had Sharpie notes written on a piece of equipment to keep track of maintenance,” he said. “I thought ‘There has to be a better way.’”

    How to use Gripp

Gripp tracking appFor equipment and buildings, the Gripp platform uses durable QR tags placed directly on tractors, implements, tools or structures. By scanning a tag with a smartphone, users can instantly view past service records, pull up equipment manuals, access parts lists or report a maintenance issue in real time. And, that is just one of its many features and uses, Wiedmeyer said.

The platform also features a built-in automated language translation tool, bridging communication gaps between multilingual farm crews and managers. Wiedmeyer noted that feedback from farmers will help Gripp evolve even more in the future.

“We are always looking for new solutions that deliver immediate value to our members’ operations,” said Mike Bailey, senior vice president of operations and partnerships with Ohio Farm Bureau. “ This platform gives Ohio farmers an innovative tool to protect their machinery investments through proactive upkeep and maintenance, keeping their farm business productive and saving valuable time.”

    Giving farmers a voice
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.

    Advocacy
So many of the issues that OFBF and its members are advocating for are important to all Ohioans. I look at OFBF as an agricultural watchdog advocating for farmers and rural communities across Ohio.
