Read MoreThanks to a generous donation from Nationwide, Ohio Farm Bureau has purchased 23 Ag Literacy Kits to be shared with Farm Bureau volunteers across the state.
Nationwide made the donation in recognition of Ohio Farm Bureau earning the 2019 Leader Award from the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. State Farm Bureaus are recognized with the award when each of its state board members donates at least $50 to the foundation. Donations to the foundation are used to help create resources and programs to increase agricultural literacy.
With many children at home due to the impact of the coronavirus, Vice President of Sponsor Relations Devin Fuhrman said Nationwide hopes these additional resources are timely with students and teachers across the state, telling the story of agriculture.
The kits include various copies of the foundation’s Book of the Year and their accompanying classroom materials, plus Ag Mags and an ag careers card game:
Full of Beans: Henry Ford Grows a Car Educator Bundle
Right this Very Minute Educator Bundle
How Did That Get in my Lunchbox? Educator Bundle
the apple orchard riddle Educator Bundle
Career Card Game–Name That Ag Career
Ag Mags on three topics: Ag Innovations, Beef and Pizza
In addition to the resources for county Farm Bureaus, the Nationwide donation also facilitated the purchase of resources for the Land & Living exhibit hosted annually at the Ohio State Fair.
The kits are making their way to county Farm Bureaus this fall. Contact a local Farm Bureau office for more information.
