2024 Highland scholarship recipient

On Aug. 5, 2024, the Highland County Farm Bureau held its annual meeting at the beautiful Lake View Loft in Hillsboro. The evening began with a delicious buffet dinner, followed by updates on Farm Bureau’s activities over the past year. President Evan Davis welcomed attendees and led the meeting, which included elections for board trustees and state delegates, voting on policies, and recognizing volunteer contributions. Scholarship recipient Avery Teeters was honored. 

Ty Higgins, Ohio Farm Bureau senior director of communication, served as the keynote speaker. He highlighted the economic importance of agriculture, both locally and nationally, and celebrated the Farm Bureau’s recent victories in creating a strong business climate and promoting a responsible regulatory environment. Higgins emphasized the need to share personal stories about agriculture’s impact, reminding everyone of the critical role farming plays in their lives and communities.

The evening concluded with updates from Nathan Brown, Ohio Farm Bureau District 20 trustee, and Pam Bushelman of the Highland County Soil & Water Conservation District, who spoke about upcoming events like the Farm Tour. Election results were announced, confirming trustees Rachel Bohrer, Ronnie Hall and Gregory Tholen, as well as state annual meeting delegates Blake Adams, Andrew Davis and Ronnie Hall for 2025. With all proposed policies passed and an abundance of meaningful discussions, the annual meeting highlights Farm Bureau’s ongoing commitment to agriculture and its members.
