Note: Policies in italics are the changes that were made from last year’s policy.
Local/County
1. We support farmers’ right to build or repair property without permission, added fees or inspections from the county government.
2. We support the development of production agriculture opportunities for all residents of our county, no matter what their community.
3. We support the Lorain County Fair in their fundraising for the ‘Fairs Forever’ campaign project.
4. We oppose using stormwater fees for projects within road right of way.
5. We support the mission & vision of Lorain County Community College (LCCC) and its activities and partnerships.
6. We support Lorain County Commissioners in the continued funding of Lorain County’s Ohio State University Extension and Lorain Soil & Water Conservation District.
7. We encourage law enforcement education to enforce fair consequences for unsafe public driving infractions in rural areas.
8. We oppose the conversion of the Lorain County Airport to commercial development. This would include building a replacement airport.
9. We support increasing the bag limit for deer to 4 deer in Lorain County.
10. We encourage townships to review zoning and land use plans to protect landowner rights, reflect local priorities and ensure comprehensive planning.
State
1. We encourage OFBF (Ohio Farm Bureau Federation) to support its members to investigate the legality of perpetual land leases.
2. We oppose granting tax abatements, credits, and incentives on development of raw, undeveloped or greenfield sites. (Policy 488- Tax Abatements, Credits, Incentives)
3. We support changing the CAUV renewal process from an annual to a triennial (every 3 years) renewal cycle, provided the landowners continue to report any changes that affect CAUV eligibility or any change in ownership. (Policy 484- CAUV 1.4 edit)
4. We oppose using future tax revenue for repayment of loans or grants for private development.
5. We oppose any universal/general permit, including but not limited to wastewater for data centers. (Policy 282- Public Utilities- new 3 possibly)
6. We support preserving township authority to make land use decisions that reflect local priorities and comprehensive planning. State law should ensure that the existence or extension of public utilities does not diminish a township’s ability to enforce its zoning resolutions or expose local
governments to increased litigation seeking to override those decisions. (Policy 431- Land Use
Planning- 1.10.5- new 5 then renumbered)
7. We support surge/high use pricing for high use electrical users so the costs of generating and transmitting power does not get passed onto the lower use users. (Policy 141- Energy- new 3)
8. We oppose using eminent domain for power transmission lines for a single customer/development. (Policy 411- Eminent Domain- 2.2 then renumbered)
9. We oppose local and state officials signing any Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) related to private development. (Policy 444- Local Elected Officials- new 2)
