Farmers and commercial applicators can recycle agricultural chemical containers for free on Sat., Aug. 1 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Morrow County Fairgrounds, 195 S. Main Street, Mount Gilead.

This event is part of the Ag Container Recycling Council program, a national nonprofit that has recycled over 236 million pounds of agricultural plastic containers since 1992.

Farmers, commercial applicators and anyone working under the direct supervision of a licensed applicator are eligible. Containers must have previously held EPA-registered pesticides or crop protection products labeled for agriculture, animal health, forestry, specialty pest control, or non-registered products such as adjuvants, fertilizers, crop oil and micronutrients. This is a free event and registration is not required.

To be accepted, containers must meet all of the following requirements:

  • Rigid high-density polyethylene (HDPE), up to 55 gallons.
  • Triple rinsed (or pressure rinsed if product label allows) immediately after emptying.
  • Completely empty and dry, with no dried residue inside or outside.
  • Cap removed and discarded.
  • Label booklets removed (base label may remain).
  • No consumer, home, or garden pesticide containers.
