Austin Cable is a resident of Knox Township and a District 1 Board Member of the Jefferson County Farm Bureau. Austin has been a member of the board since 2012 and currently serves as the vice president of the board of trustees and co-chair of the Public Policy
Action Team. Austin is a science teacher at Indian Creek Middle School and runs an after school STEM program for girls called Tech Gyrls. The only son of Bill and Marsha Cable, owners of Austin Lake Park, Austin helps manage the wood lot at Austin Lake where they use conservation practices for soil and water. In addition to his work and service to the county Farm Bureau, Austin is also a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 20 in Richmond. Austin’s wife of 12 years, Dawn, is a teacher at Edison Local. They have two children, Gage and Leila.
To grow a network and gain perspective and knowledge in the industry through personal and professional development has been invaluable. Every day I learn and grow.
The issue of property taxation remains as one of the biggest challenges our members face today. Ensuring agricultural property is valued for its agricultural potential and not development is critical to the continued success of Ohio agriculture.
